Admissions to University of Delhi are offered separately for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. While there’s no entrance test for UG programmes, except for 14 courses in all disciplines, PG programmes, on the other hand, are offered via entrance test. For DU PG admissions, NTA conducts DUET.

It must be noted that Delhi University admission process for UG programmes is done based on the marks of the candidates in 12th or equivalent qualifying examination, except 14 UG courses. In other words, there’s no entrance test for admission to undergraduate programmes at the affiliated colleges of the University of Delhi. The entrance test for DU admissions 2020 is held only for 14 UG programmes. Delhi University admission process for UG programmes is common for all affiliated colleges, except for St. Stephen’s College and Jesus and Mary College. For DU admission to most UG programmes, the ‘Best of four’ subject marks in the qualifying examination are considered for preparing the merit list and further offer the merit base admissions.

DU PG Admissions 2020

For Delhi University PG admission, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct DUET 2020 Examination. DU PG admissions are offered through entrance test mode and on the basis of merit also. Admission to 50% of the DU PG seats is offered through merit mode, while the remaining 50% postgraduate seats at Delhi University are offered via entrance test – DUET.

DU Admission Process 2020

University of Delhi admission process has different stages, which means that candidates need to undergo several stages to ensure their admission in the Delhi University colleges. University of Delhi admission for most of the DU undergraduate programmes takes place based on the merit of class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination, except 14 UG programmes admission to which happens through entrance test mode. Thus, DU admission 2020 via the merit based mode involves the following stages.

  1. Online Registration

  2. Check the college and course cut-offs

  3. Select colleges and course

  4. Verification of documents at colleges

  5. Approval of admission by the college

  6. Online payment of admission fee

DU Eligibility Criteria 2020

While filling the DU admission form 2020, candidates must check in detail the eligibility criteria for DU admissions, avoiding that may result in the candidate loosing the candidature for admission (due to not meeting any of the prescribed DU eligibility criteria 2020. The University of Delhi prescribes DU 2020 eligibility criteria which contains requirements related to educational background, subjects studied, marks acquired in the qualifying examinations etc. The eligibility criteria of DU, for UG admissions, is common for all the affiliated colleges, except St. Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary College.   • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • The merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/elective subjects.

  • The applicant must have studied and passed English in the qualifying exam and should include English for calculation of ‘Best Four’ percentage.

B.A. (Hons.) Hindi

  • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • Applicants securing 40% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the subject concerned are also eligible for admission to the relevant Honours Course.

  • The merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/elective subjects. The applicant must have studied and passed Hindi in the qualifying exam and should include Hindi for calculation of ‘Best Four’ percentage.

  • Applicants who have passed the intermediate Examination of an Indian University/Board with at least 40% marks in the aggregate and also “Prabhakar in Hindi” shall be eligible for admission.

among the following subjects: Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies/ Commerce.

  • Inclusion of any subject from List B other than mentioned above in the combination of best three will lead to a deduction of 1% per subject on the aggregate.

  • Inclusion of any subject other than those in Lists A and B in the combination of best three will lead to a deduction of 2.5% per subject on the aggregate of the Best Four.

B.Com.

  • An aggregate of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • The admission would be based on the aggregate of marks scored in class XII in best four academic subjects inclusive of one language, Mathematics and two out of Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science/ Informatics Practices.

  • The students from other streams, (with Mathematics in Class XII), will have a disadvantage of 2% in aggregate of required four subjects, i.e. Mathematics + one language + two academic subjects from those streams.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics / Statistics

  • 50% marks in Mathematics and an aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

DU Eligibility 2020 (Merit-based admission to courses offered through the Faculty of Sciences and Inter-Disciplinary & Applied Sciences)

  • The overall percentage in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics should be 55% and one compulsory language should be 50%.

B.Sc.(Hons.) Geology

  • The overall percentage in 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Geology/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Geography) should be 55% and one compulsory language should be 50%.

  • Selection will be made on the basis of marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Geology/Biology/Biotechnology/Geography for each Honours Course.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Anthropology/ Biological Sciences/ Botany/ Microbiology/ Zoology

For Anthropology: 55% or more marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Practical & Theory together) and passing in one compulsory language i.e. English with 50% marks.

For Biological Sciences/Botany/Microbiology/ Zoology: 55% or more marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (Practical & Theory together) and passing in one compulsory language i.e. English with 50% marks.

B.Sc.(Hons.) Home Science

At least 50% marks in the aggregate of any three of the following subjects: At least one subject: Physics/Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology/ and other Subjects from List B.

DU Application Form 2020

DU admission forms or application process will release in online mode for the UG and PG programmes. According to official data of 2019, as many as 367895 candidates registered for DU admissions, while only 258388 candidates paid the registration fee. This means that 1,09,507 candidates did not pay the registration fee or withdrew from DU admission process. For initiating the Delhi University admission process, candidates have to register themselves on DU admission portal online. Check the steps to fill the DU admission form below.

Steps to Fill DU Application Form

Step 1 – Registration: Registration is a one-time process and is the very first mandatory step. At this stage, their user name and password will be created which will further be used for all future login purposes.

Step 2 – Filling the application form: At this stage, candidates have to login using the log in details generated at the first stage and fill details. Details to be entered at this stage include personal, bank, academic details and also the “best of four” marks. The best of four calculation can be done using the online calculator provided by the university. Check the procedure to calculate the DU best of four below.

Step 3 – Uploading documents: The following documents have to be uploaded at this stage:

  • Passport size photograph of the applicant

  • Scanned signature of the applicant.

  • Self Attested Class X certificate/mark sheet containing Date of Birth.

  • Self-attested Class XII Marks Sheet OR a self-attested copy of the Marks Sheet downloaded from the respective Board’s website should be uploaded in case of result not declared.

  • Self-attested copy of the valid SC/ST/OBC/PWD/KM/CW certificate, if applicable.

  • Self-attested copies of Sports/ECA certificates, if applicable.
